Our President
David B Harvey is a native born Edmontonian. David spent many years in
the property and casualty insurance business. His career started as a
junior clerk with London and Lancashire Insurance Company, which
became Royal Insurance Company now know as RSA. In 1975 David left the
Halifax Insurance company (now Intact Insurance Co of Canada)
where he occupied the position of senior Marketing Manager for the
Province of Alberta to purchase Monarch Insurance Brokers Limited.
Monarch Insurance Brokers Limited was established in 1946, by Ralph
Linegar, and had its office headquartered in the old civic block which
is where the now Citadel Theatre is located.
Through David's expertise, knowledge, guidance and untiring efforts
"Monarch Insurance" grew from a small personal lines general insurance
agency, to a significant commercial property and casualty insurance
brokerage doing business through out Western Canada and the Maritimes.
David's specialty was that of a tribulazied Lloyds London broker,
placing bespoke business with London, primarily in the Professional
Indemnity, Professional Liability, Errors and Omissions, Malpractice
Insurance classes, as well as specialty commercial lines and also "For Profit and Not For Profit" Directors and Officers
Liability Insurance.
In Feb 1994 David Harvey was awarded one of the first private issuer's
contracts through Service Alberta, forming Monarch Registries, which
became one of if ,not the leading Private Insurer (Registry) business
in Alberta.
David is an Associate of the Insurance Institute of Canada, a
Certified Chartered Insurance Broker. A Chartered Insurance
Professional with all certifications and degrees earned by
examination.
In addition Mr. Harvey served eleven years on the Board of
Directors of the Independent Insurance Brokers Association of Alberta,
elected and served as President of the IIBAA for the years 1984 and
1985. David was also a Director of the Canadian Federation of
Insurance Brokers Associations, a director of the Insurance Brokers
Association of Canada. Member of the initial discipline committee of
the IIBAA. In addition David co-authored the original brief and draft
legislation in regard to self regulation on behalf of the Independent
Insurance Brokers Association of Alberta.
David has served as Vice President Finance, Edmonton SW Progressive
Conservative Party, a Director of Ceapro Inc (CZO) and Director Partner of Dematco Manufacturing Inc
David is also a member of the Edmonton Golf and Country Club. Kelowna
Yacht Club and Camelback Golf Club Scottsdale Arizona.
David has been a supporter of Hope Mission, The Salvation Army, the
Alberta Heart and Stroke Foundation and Ronald MacDonald House as well
as Edmonton minor hockey.
